Regional Survey Reveals 2012 Favorite Local Sledding Hill
Lansing, Mich. — At the end of 2011, the Mid-Michigan Environmental Action Council invited local residents to participate in an online survey to find out where the best sledding hill really are in Mid-Michigan. Last year's champ, the hill at Granger Meadows, was the early favorite but this year's ultimate winner is Ingham County Burchfield Park!
"We are so lucky to have great opportunities for healthy, outdoor recreation all year long in Mid-Michigan and with so many nominees for 'best sledding hill', it took us a while to dig through the responses" says Mid-MEAC Executive Director Julie Powers, "but we are pleased to announce that Burchfield was the final winner."
Burchfield Park has two sledding hills, one for little kids and another for more experienced snow sports enthusiasts. According to the Ingham County website, the park is open from approximately sunrise to sunset but you can always call (517) 676-2233 and follow the prompts to find out hours of operation and sledding conditions. Other top sledding hills nominated by local residents include Granger Meadows (DeWitt), Gier Community Center and Deadman's Hill (Delhi Township, Holt).
Mid-MEAC encourages all local residents to get outside during the winter months and take advantage of the healthy physical activities that are available throughout the region, including sledding, snowboarding and snow tubing.
The Mid-Michigan Environmental Action Council serves Ingham, Eaton, and Clinton counties by translating environmental concerns into action by providing education, advocacy, and volunteer opportunities.
