| The Holt - Lansing - East Lansing routes that we have mapped offer people many options of starting points and stopping points in travelling from Holt to Lansing or East Lansing. The map above shows all of the low-traffic roads that can connect you to the route from whichever neighborhood you live in (you can come up Aurelius from the south, or take Willoughby from the east if you live in that area). 1. From Keller and Aurelius, turn right onto Aurelius. From Aurelius, you can: a. Turn right onto Willoughby, and take east to Okemos / East Lansing. b. Turn right onto Luwanna Drive (just past Cavanaugh) and follow through the neighborhood shown above to come out onto Forest Road (lower traffic route), and take this route into East Lansing. c. Continue along Aurelius to the Lansing River Trail, which will take you into downtown Lansing. Specific directions for a, b, and c above are given below, from Aurelius Road. Willoughby to Okemos/East Lansing: 1. Take Willoughby to Hagadorn. 2. Turn left onto Hagadorn, take to Jolly. 3. Turn right onto Jolly, take to Huelett. You are know in Okemos. If you want to keep going to East Lansing, follow below: 4. Turn left onto Huelett Road, take to Bennett. 5. Turn left onto Bennett, take to Beaumont. 6. Turn right on Forest, take to Farm. 7. Turn left onto Farm, take to Service. 8. Turn right onto Service, take to Bogue. 9. Turn left onto Bogue. Congratulations -- You are now on campus! b. Aurelius Road to East Lansing: 1. Turn right onto Luwanna Dr, take until it ends. 2. Turn left at dead end. 3. Pass Provincial Park Dr, on your left, and make the next right. 4. Take to Laewood Dr, and turn left onto Laewood. Take to Staten Ave. 5. Turn right onto Staten Ave. Take to Forest Road. 6. Turn right onto Forest, and take to Farm. 7. Turn left onto Farm Lane and go north to Service Drive. 8. Turn right onto Service Drive, take east to Bogue. Congratulations -- You are now on campus! c. Aurelius Road to Downtown Lansing: 1. Take Aurelius north to the Lansing River Trail. Access point will be a ramp going away from Aurelius, on the right side of the street, about 1/2 mile north of Mt. Hope. (There is also parking available at this spot.) 2. Turn left onto the Lansing River Trail. 3. Take the Lansing River Trail to Cedar Street. At Cedar, you have 2 options: 3a. Stay on the trail, which loops south along the river, until you get to the "Cedar Link" at Elm Street. Then turn left onto Elm. (Do not continue on the Lansing River Trail, unless you want to take it to Kalamazoo St, ride up the ramp on Kalamazoo, and then head west into downtown Lansing on Kalamazoo. Or unless you want to take the trail even further north to the City Market/LCC, or to Old Town). 3b. Get on Elm Street and cross Cedar, which goes straight across Elm instead of looping south along the river. Both of these options get you to the same place-- the "Cedar Link" where Elm Street crosses the River Trail. 4. From the "Cedar Link", take Elm St. west to Washington. 5. Turn right onto Washington, go north into Downtown Lansing. Congratulations! You are downtown! From Washington you can either proceed directly to your final destination (click here for a close up map of downtown Lansing with bike racks) or you can proceed to the check-in point at 119 N. Washington Square, the Downtown YMCA Wellness Center, and enjoy: - group bike-parking - coffee & refreshments - free shower usage - additional info on Smart Commute activities, such as scenic jogging routes, festival info, and more. |
