Meet the MidMEAC Board of Directors

 Dennis M. Louney, President

Mr. Louney is the Public Affairs Representative for Spicer Group Inc. and serves on the Groundwater Advisory Board of the Tri-County Regional Planning Commission. Dennis also serves on the Do-1-Thing Emergency Preparedness Board.

Louney received a master’s degree from Western Michigan University; a bachelor’s degree from James Madison College, Michigan State University.

Ken Hall, Vice President

Ken Hall, P.E.M., is the Hazard Mitigation Coordinator at City of Lansing;  a Land Use Planner with a demonstrated history of working in the government administration industry. Community and social services professional with a Bachelor of Science (BS) focused in Urban Regional and Planning from Michigan State University.

Liz Harrow, Secretary, Land Use Lunch Program Coordinator

Liz Harrow is an architect who specializes in the adaptive reuse of existing retail spaces and the renovation of existing homes. Liz has lived several years in Africa and France. Her affiliations include Old Town Design Committee, East Lansing Building Board of Appeals, East Lansing Housing and Neighborhood Services, Amnesty International group 81, Amnesty International Central African coordination group, and the East Lansing Film Festival. Liz is an architecture instructor at Lansing Community College and an avocational teacher with Kehillat Israel.

Branden Dyer, Treasurer

Branden Dyer is a Councilmember for the City of Charlotte, Michigan. He is a member of the Michigan Municipal League Committee on Energy, Environment and Technology, and works as a community organizer.

Mr. Dyer holds a B.S. from Olivet College in Accountancy.

Irene Cahill, At Largecahill-irene-fbk

Irene Cahill is Forestry Supervisor for the City of Lansing. Irene is a committed advocate for a healthier and more accessible Michigan environment. The many honors Irene has received over the years include the Environmental Quality Award from the US EPA in 1991 and the Horticulture Woman of the Year in 1989 from the National Association of Women in Horticulture. Irene is also on the Board of Directors of the Michigan League of Conservation Voters. 

Sherry Hedrington, At Large

Ms. Hedrington graduated cum laude with her law degree from Notre Dame Law School. Sherry began her legal career in bond finance and became a partner at Miller Canfield. She has focused her work on commercial and municipal litigation, including arbitration, trial, and appellate work.

Nickolas Lentz, At Large

Mr. Lentz is a fundraising professional with a background in non-profit leadership. In his policy role, he works to address infrastructure needs, housing affordability, and economic development opportunities

Rhonda Oyer, At Large

Ms. Oyer is the Sustainable Materials Management UnitChief for the State of Michigan Department of Environmental Quality.

Rhonda is part of the leadership team for MidMEAC’s Construction and Demolition (C&D) Waste Diversion program.

Eric Schertzing, At Large, Communications Committee Chair

Public administrator focused on wholistic approaches to helping those most in need. Skilled in community based economic development, with specialties in Land Banking, Economic Development through tax policy, and Investments.

Belief: We must figure out better ways to connect services to people.

Advisory Members

David Christian, P.E., Vice President, Volunteer Stream Monitoring Program Coordinator

David Christian is the president of DC Engineering. He is experienced in municipal sewer system investigations, municipal systems in multiple site developments, rehabilitation design analysis, preparation of design documents, cost opinions, and project implementation. He is responsible for sewer investigations, separation designs, road and bridge design, and construction administration for clients. A 1986 graduate of Michigan Technological University, David earned his professional engineering license in Michigan in 1990.

Yanice Jackson, Advisory Committee

Yanice Jackson is a Human Resources professional with a degree from Clark Atlanta University. She works with the Ingham County Treasurer’s office. Ms. Jackson also has expertise in communications.

Jeremy Orr, Advisory Committee

Mr. Orr serves as the director of litigation and advocacy partnerships at Earthjustice where he helps Earthjustice’s offices, programs, and departments build strategies to deeply engage and genuinely partner with communities and other stakeholders. Additionally, he is a faculty member at the Michigan State University College of Law where he teaches environmental law courses.

Michelle Selzer is a Lansing resident and works for the Michigan Office of the Great Lakes where she helps advance important Great Lakes water quality protection and restoration priorities related to Lake Erie. In this capacity, she serves on and helps coordinate a number of state, regional, and local stakeholder groups. Michelle is a recent graduate of the Great Lakes Leadership Academy and has a Bachelor of Science degree in biology with a concentration in botany. She is currently pursuing a Masters of Management degree. Her current professional interests include local capacity building, planning and implementing green infrastructure, and local food/agriculture systems.
