Ten Thousand Trees

“The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago; the second best time to plant a tree is now.”

Plant a tree. Plant lots of trees, shrubs, and native perennials as habitat and for carbon sequestration.

MidMEAC is working with Mid-Michigan Land Conservancy and the Ingham County Drain Office to plant as many as 5,000 trees in our region. Ask about volunteering.

  • Trees fight climate change by absorbing the greenhouse gas CO2 from the atmosphere.
  • Trees help to protect landscapes from some of the more extreme consequences of climate change like flooding and storms.
  • Trees clean the air, soil, and water while providing food and shelter.
  • Tree-planting programs help to rehabilitate degraded environments, help wildlife thrive, and create jobs
