Our Mission
…is to improve environmental stewardship through education, advocacy, and community action.
Water is central to our identity as citizens of the Great Lakes Watershed Basin; protecting water quality in our streams, rivers and lakes is what guides MidMEAC.
Our work focuses on multidisciplinary approaches to protect water quality. MidMEAC partners with governmental agencies, municipalities, educators and others to engage citizens in discussions about Low Impact Design (LID) for infrastructure solutions, economic development, and habitat connectivity.
MidMEAC has programs that invite residents and visitors to unique naturalized areas, where they can experience the value of environmental stewardship.
We work with environmental scientists and engineers to develop educational programs for K-12 students and adults. These are aimed at understanding the science and technology involved in reclaiming and naturalizing parts of the urban landscape.
Michigan State University students in environmental science, natural resources, and other degree programs work with us to develop model projects and best practices for resource management.
